Trains from Weymouth and Upwey stations were forced to move at a reduced speed this morning due to a trespasser on the lines.
All trains travelling to Dorchester South were moving at a reduced speed whilst the individual was moved to a place of safety.
Police officers from Dorset Police and the British Transport Police attended the incident, along with the fire and ambulance services from around 9am on Thursday, April 18.
There were some cancellations and delays to some trains whilst the emergency services escorted the trespasser to a safe place.
The disruption lasted until around midday when trains resumed a normal service.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to the line near Weymouth at around 8.55am today (18 April) following reports of a trespasser on the tracks.
"Officers attended alongside paramedics and a person was taken to a place of safety.”
A spokesperson for South Western Railway said: "We have been informed of a trespasser on the railway between Weymouth and Upwey.
"Whilst our teams assist the individual to a place of safety, trains have to run at a reduced speed on all lines.
"For further information or onward travel advice please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point.
"We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey."
