Community groups are being reminded to apply for grants to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

Weymouth Town Council is offering funding of up to £350 for community, voluntary and charitable organisations- with a total of £3,500 up for grabs.

The money can be used to fund costs such as food, refreshments, decorations, entertainment, equipment, activity materials, displays, insurance, venue hire, and marketing costs.

Groups have until Tuesday, May 21 to apply for a grant.

A spokesperson for Weymouth Town Council said: "Has your group applied for a grant to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of D-Day?

"You can apply for up to £350 to support community-based events or activities with a total of £3,500 up for grabs.

"To be eligible for funding, applicants must be a community, voluntary or charitable organisation which must be constituted.

"Have an appropriate safeguarding policy – if working with children and young people or vulnerable adults."
