A man was airlifted to hospital after two women were attacked in Weymouth.

Two women were reportedly assaulted by a man in the area of Westham Road in Weymouth.

Police were called to the scene and arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm.

The arrested man was subsequently airlifted to hospital for treatment to a head injury that is reported to have been sustained following the incident. 

Police, paramedics, firefighters and an air ambulance rushed to the Westwey Road at around 11.53pm on Monday, April 29.

A man was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital by the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.

One of the victims was located by police and treated for minor injuries, the second victim has not been identified by police at this time.

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said: "We were called at 11.53pm yesterday with a request to assist the ambulance service and HEMS (helicopter emergency medical service) doctors at an incident on Westwey Road, Weymouth. 

"One fire engine from Weymouth was mobilised and requested to provide lighting to assist them in dealing with a patient."

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 11.31pm on Monday, April 29, to an incident in Weymouth.

"We sent one air ambulance, two double-crewed land ambulances and two operations officers to the scene and conveyed one patient by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital."
