FIREFIGHTERS tackled a lounge fire at a home in Christchurch

Two fire engines rushed to a home in Winkton Close, Burton, on Wednesday afternoon, May 15. 

The residents living inside had escaped from the home uninjured, but a cause of the fire is unknown at this stage

A spokeswoman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said the service was first called at 4.31pm. 

She added: “Two crews from Christchurch attended and two breathing apparatus wearers used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. 

“The occupants of the house were out of the property when we arrived, and the stop was at 4.55pm, with crews back at station by 6pm.” 

A Dorset Police spokesman said: "We received a report at 4.50pm on Wednesday 15 May 2024 from the fire service which was in attendance at a property fire in Winkton Close in Christchurch.

"Officers attended the scene and, following enquiries, the cause of the fire is believed to have been accidental and no offences have been identified."
