NEW BODY FITNESS 48

NEW Body Fitness overcame Buglers 48-43 in a South & West Dorset League Premier Division thriller.

Buglers scored first but New Body Fitness were quick to play off subsequent mistakes.

New Body’s C and WA worked well together and fed the ball into their shooters. New Body’s defence was also strong in Buglers’ shooting circle as they took the lead.

Buglers started off strong again in the second quarter with their C and WA supplying the ball to the shooters who worked well together.

A rare toss-up was made between New Body’s GA and Buglers GK with GA claiming possession although Buglers’ WD made a lovely interception to regain possession. Despite this, New Body extended their lead.

Third quarter saw physical play from both teams with fast passing from New Body and impressive speed which made Buglers work hard.

New Body kept their lead but great defence from Buglers’ GK deflecting multiple balls from their attack as Buglers kept the score tight in defeat.

WARMER HOME IMPROVEMENTS A 39

COASTAL CHEESE 37 

ANOTHER dramatic match played out in the Premier saw Warmer Home Improvements A edge Coastal Cheese 39-37.

Warmer took a strong early lead with some great interceptions from GD Lauren Banks and tips from GK Sarah Bryant. Great shooting from Coastal’s Camilla Assirate and Laura Cox began to make up some of the goals.

Coastal’s tough defence continued into the second quarter with Alix Cocker and Laura Cox making it difficult for Warmer to maintain possession. Halfway through the quarter Warmer stuck tight to their players which led to turnovers by C Becky Hallet and GD Lauren Banks.

Coastal started off strong in the third quarter taking the first two goals although GD Lauren Banks put a stop to this. Intense play from Coastal’s C Jess Mortimer and WD Meadow Noble kept the scores level.

The final quarter started with both teams coming out fighting.

Excellent shooting from both teams despite the wet conditions kept the game close but Warmer came away with the win by two goals.

ARTIFEX DRAGONS 28

EXE TRAINING 13

ARTFIEX Dragons made it a hat-trick of wins in Division One with a 28-13 triumph over Exe Training.

Dragons took an early lead in wet conditions with great teamwork between their GS and GA.

Exe made good use of space and were able to pull back some goals due to great shooting by their GA.

Exe’s WD made some great interceptions which slowed Dragons’ pace of the game but their shooters remained persistent which paid off. Exe’s defence continued to pressurise Dragons but with impressive movement in the shooting circle they extended their lead. 

With a change of positions for Exe they fought back couple with some accurate shots, although Dragons’ good use of space and interceptions pulled them ahead.

Exe continued with strong movement over the court and both teams’ use of the width of the court provided good netball, resulting in Dragons pulling away to win by a comfortable margin.

EVOLVED TUNING 42

ARTIFEX SIRENS 23

EVOLVED Tuning maintained their unbeaten start with a 42-23 win over Artifex Sirens in Division Two.

Great movement by Sirens’ GD brought the ball up the court although Evolved’s C and WA worked well together to generate options for their shooters to take an early lead.

Team changes for Sirens were made and this proved to be an advantage as they were able to slow the pace down. Despite Sirens’ increased movements, Evolved maintained their lead.

The start of the third quarter saw end-to-end action with the first goal taking a while to be scored but this was finally found by Evolved.

Sirens fought back after carefully playing the ball around the D but Evolved continued to extend their lead with ruthless shooting.

The rain started to fall heavier for the last quarter making conditions hard for all the players but Evolved marched on to record a victory.
