WARMER HOME IMPROVEMENTS A 27

NEW Body Fitness climbed to the top of the South & West Dorset League Premier Division with a 52-27 win over Warmer Home Improvements A.

Both teams made a powerful start but Warmer were successful in getting the ball to their shooters who duly scored.

Good interceptions were made by Warmer although good pressure from New Body’s defence prevented goals being scored.

Mistakes were made by Warmer at the beginning of the second quarter which New Body took advantage of, increasing their lead. Warmer C Becky Hallet and WD Juliette Frampton brought control to the centre court although Warmer were unable to capitalise.

The third quarter saw Warmer more settled in their game but New Body continued their swift play to open a generous lead.

Warmer’s GS Stacey Moller made some good long shots although New Body’s overall strong court play and good shooting allowed them to seal victory. 

TEAM WAIKIKI 35

WJNC WILDCATS 62

WJNC Wildcats clinched an emphatic 62-35 victory over Team Waikiki in Division One.

Wildcats started strong with great shooting from their GS Niamh Sealey although Waikiki’s defence was equally as strong, enabling them to get fingertips to the ball and disrupting play.

Waikiki were playing with only six players and Wildcats maintained a strong lead although every interception made by Waikiki increased in value with their being a player short.   

Waikiki’s attack started strong with good movement in the circle and accurate shooting. Wildcats made some good interceptions resulting in turnovers of the ball and their shooters making every goal count. Waikiki’s GD Becky Thomas kept the pressure on. 

Wildcats continued to extend their lead although Waikiki’s attack became stronger, although their progress was hampered by Wildcats’ defence claiming some critical interceptions.

Waikiki’s defence worked hard to achieve turnovers and made good use of small mistakes by Wildcats.

Wildcats formed a strong presence down the court and were too powerful for the under-strength six of Waikiki.

FIRST FIT WINDOWS 49

FIRST Fit Windows made it four wins from four in Division Two with a 49-26 win over Evolved Tuning.

First Fit started to pull ahead with some well-timed interceptions from their defence.

A faster start by both teams to the second quarter saw First Fit maintain their lead.

Evolved made some swift attacking movements down the court which saw them consistently finding space, although First Fit kept a good lead.

The third quarter was evenly matched with both teams making steady progress.

Evolved’s GA Summer Daghue worked well around the circle which saw her score goals for her team. First Fit’s GA Kathy Sims also made some great shots to increase their lead.

Strong shooting from First Fit’s Ella Stanton and Sims widened their lead as the team held on in a scrappy yet competitive finale.

ARTIFEX KRAKENS 30

WARMER HOME IMPROVEMENTS B 30

ARGUABLY the game of the match week came as Artifex Krakens and Warmer B contested a captivating 30-30 draw.

Despite good defending, both teams of shooters were on form and Warmer B took a two-goal lead.

Krakens started the second quarter by taking the lead with some fantastic goals from their shooters.

Both teams worked hard at creating space and getting the ball to their appropriate shooting circles but it was Krakens who claimed a four-goal advantage.

Warmer C Fiona Russell created space within the centre court and was constantly free to receive the ball and support her team, reducing the deficit to two.

Tensions built in the last quarter as Warmer regained their lead.

Warmer’s GD Gemma Bevins worked tirelessly to claim the rebounds and get the ball out of the shooting circle but Krakens fought back at the death to secure a thrilling draw.
