AS THOUSANDS of you tune in to watch the X Factor tomorrow evening you will be watching one of Dorset’s very own make his final appearance in front of the judges.

After weeks of tense auditions, gruelling boot camps, and live shows 23-year-old Nathan Lewis, from Dorchester, will take to the stage one last time to battle it out with his band 5 After Midnight.

The former Thomas Hardye student is one part of the lively pop trio who have won the hearts and votes of millions across the country these past few months.

His sister, Mikayla Lewis, who works as a placement administrator for Dorset County Hospital, said: “It’s been an amazing experience, it’s surreal. I can’t imagine what it must be like for him to go from riding the bus to having his face on the bus, but he has been so humbled by it.

“He is just so grateful that people have supported him and voted for him.”

Nathan, who is now a street dance teacher in Brighton, grew up in the county town where he spent most of his time time practicing routines in his room and skating with his school friends.

Mikayla said: “Growing up he always has a passion for music and he has decided to follow his dreams. From when he was absolutely tiny this was his dream, he was always in his room playing acapella and perfecting his dance routines.”

5 After Midnight initially wowed the judges with their smooth rendition of Drake’s One Dance and since then have gone from strength to strength under the guidance of mentor Louis Walsh.

However, things got tense in week seven when the boys went up against the controversial rapper Honey G to secure a place in the semi-finals.

Mikayla said: “I was so nervous when he went up in the sing-off against Honey G as I know she was really popular with the public but they survived. It’s amazing that they have gone from being in the bottom two and are now in the final.”

As one of nine siblings, Mikayla credits Nathan with bringing the family closer together through the show.

She said: “It’s all been a bit surreal for me to open up a magazine and see my brother there, but my sisters and myself couldn’t be more proud of Nathan.

“I have a son and it’s amazing for him to have such a good role model. Nathan has showed him that nothing if out of your reach if you put your mind to it.

“Now we are asking all the lovely people of Dorchester and Dorset to pick up the phone this weekend and support our local talent.”

The boys will go up against Matt Terry and Saara Aalto in front of judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Nicole Scherzinger and Sharon Osborne in a weekend-long final.

The first performances will air live on ITV at 8pm Saturday evening with the winners crowed on Sunday night’s show.
