MAGPIES RESERVES 2 MONEYFIELDS 0

GOALS from Oakley Hanger and Josh Tennant sent the Magpies back to the top of the Wyvern League Premier Division in their penultimate game of the season.

Dorchester are now one point ahead of closest rivals AFC Portchester, though the Hampshire club have a game in hand.

However, it is not a simple two-horse race for the title, with third-placed Sholing, currently six points off first, still having six fixtures left.

Hanger gave the Magpies the lead midway through the first half, heading in a Luke Pidgely corner at the far post.

It was 2-0 five minutes before half-time when Tennant pounced after Craig Michie’s header from a Rodney Gwenzi corner had been saved.

Moneyfields threatened in the second period but home keeper Harry Reynolds made some crucial saves to deny the visitors, one from long range, another a one-on-one chance.

Dan Diaz and Dave Whalley got some game time after the break, replacing Sam Old and Jack Vallier respectively, as the Magpies saw out the match relatively comfortably.
