TERRAS: Michael Walker exits Weymouth
WEYMOUTH have announced that Michael Walker has left the club by mutual consent.
The central defender signed a two-year deal with the club last summer, but both parties have agreed to end the contract after Walker spent just one term with the Terras.
A club statement said: “Weymouth Football Club regrets to announce that they and Michael Walker have, jointly, agreed to part company. The parting is by mutual consent and is with immediate effect.
“Both parties agree that Michael's move to his hometown club has not worked out as planned and - therefore - a parting of the ways is in the interest of us both.
"Weymouth Football Club would like to place on record our thanks to Michael for his efforts since the start of the season and wish him all the best in his future career."
Walker follows brother Nathan out of the Terras’ exit door this summer, after he recently agreed a deal with neighbours Dorchester.
On Michael Walker’s exit, manager Jason Matthews told Echosport: “I wish Michael all the best for the future, I feel he was unlucky with injuries and it’s probably a season that he wishes to put behind him.”
