BEAMINSTER v

WEYMOUTH SECONDS

BEAMINSTER make five changes to their side for tomorrow’s County Division Two showdown with winless Weymouth Seconds at the Memorial Ground (1.30pm).

The hosts, sitting slap bang in the middle of the table after five matches, take on the team that is currently at the bottom of the standings.

Team manager Ross Baker is confident of a Beaminster win against the seaside outfit, but a number of alterations to the starting XI is going to provide a test all of its own.

Richard Runyard, Indy Nayak-kara, Hugh Rathbone, Aidey Phillips and Murray Legg are all unavailable after the defeat to Cerne Valley last weekend.

Coming in are Dan Hillier, Max Barton, who is back from university, Kevin Reed, Brian Earl and Peter Barber.

“There are quite a few players missing through holidays and general unavailability,” said Baker. “But we’ve strengthened the side a little bit with Kevin and Max coming in.

“They are two players we’ve tried to get involved more this season but haven’t been able to as yet.

“Max is back from university and will be opening the batting, and Kevin is a good all-roun- der.

“Some of the second team are playing against a touring side so we’ve had to look outside our normal squad for players.

“There are players around that we’ve been able to call on so that’s encouraging.”

If the rain holds off enough for the two teams to get a game in, Baker is optimistic that if Beaminster put right what went wrong against Cerne Valley then they have a great chance of winning.

“If we do manage to get a game in then we’ve got an excellent chance of getting a win, and we’re looking forward to finally playing at home after all the rain,” he added.

*Bridport, who have only played one match so far this season due to the wet weather, go to Sturminster Marshall in Division Three.
