WEY Valley School duo Rebecca Raybould and Alex Jolliffe led the way in the Bournemouth Youth Omnium under-16 races.

Poole Wheelers’ ace Raybould, 15, won all five rounds of the girls’ competition, showing the skills that have made her a member of the Great Britain Talent Team.

Jolliffe, riding for Team Terminator, took first place in the boys’ event but was put under more pressure than girls’ champion Raybould.

He had Anthony Anderson (Sigma Sport. and Etienne Giorgi (Giant cc/Halo Films) snapping at his heels.

However, other than a lapse in concentration which saw him miss the decisive move in the points race, he looked in control.

Jolliffe now turns his attention to the road for a few weeks and has the track nationals in August in his sights too.

The omnium consists of five events; the 100km time trial, elimination race, sprint, points race and scratch race.

Riders are awarded points for their finishing position in each event and the cyclist with the lowest score at the end of the five is the winner.

Meanwhile, Jolliffe continues to dominate the track in the Bournemouth Friday evening track league.

The 15-year-old from Weymouth won the opening eight-lap scratch race, the elimination race, a 25-lap points race and the final 32-lap scratch to make it a clean sweep in the latest round.
