A BRACE from Luis Suarez broke English hearts as Roy Hodgson’s men succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against Uruguay in Sao Paulo.

Wayne Rooney levelled the scoring on 75 minutes after Suarez’s first-half header put Uruguay ahead.

But the striker was on hand to pounce on Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard’s mistake to smash the ball home and all but send England packing.

The defeat, England’s second in Group D, means that they must now rely on all results going their way, and must beat Costa Rica in their final group game to have any hope of advancing into the knockout rounds.

What was your opinion of the England performance? Can they still produce the great escape and get out of the group if results go their way?

Where was the game won and lost, and what, if anything, would you change for the next group fixture against Costa Rica? Let us know your views!
