WIMBORNE & COLEHILL SECONDS 124 (20pts) lost to DORCHESTER 130-4 (3pts) by 6 wickets

AUSSIE paceman Eamonn Scott was in sensational form for Dorchester on Saturday, claiming a magnificent seven wickets to give his side the outright lead in Premier Two.

The overseas seamer finished with figures of 7-43 as the visitors were bowled out for 124 at Dorchester Rec.

Man-of-the-match Scott then scored an unbeaten 21 in the hosts’ reply to help guide Dan Belt’s charges to a six-wicket victory, their sixth success on the trot.

In winning, Dorchester exacted revenge over their opponents who were the last team to beat the county town outfit back in May.

“They were 60-odd for no wicket at one stage and it looked like they were going to get 200-plus,” said Dorchester captain Belt.

“But then we introduced Eamonn Scott who came on and took 7-43 and all three spinners had a wicket each to round things off.

“It was another great performance in the field and Eamonn was man-of-the-match with his seven wickets.

“He is now getting used to the English conditions and is picking up wickets on a regular basis with a great line and length.”

The skipper was again imp-ressed by his side’s ability to stage a successful run chase without too much drama.

Belt was at the crease on 42 not out when the win was sealed and opener Pete Moxom had earlier made 33 as he and Will Caldwell (18) put on 55 for the first wicket.

Before that, the visitors had looked set for a much more competitive total when they reached 68 without loss.

Cook (32) and Jones (25) were moving the score along nicely until Scott had the latter caught behind by Josh Foot and then Caldwell removed the former thanks to Joe Power’s catch.

It then became the Scott show as the seamer dismissed Hall, H Prince, Barker, E Bartlett, S Prince and Hills.

Moxom and Power took the last two wickets to bowl Wimborne out in just under 41 overs.

Hills took 3-20 for the away side but Dorchester got the runs required in 32 overs.

They now lead Martinstown by two points at the top of the table and travel to Sherborne next.
