Portland’s Jay Lelliott was crowned British youth champion in the men’s 400m freestyle in the 19-and-over age group at the British Gas ASA National Youth Championships.
The Dorset swim star and former Tornadoes of South Dorset youngster clocked a time of 3mins 53.06secs to finish second in the race as the top Brit in Sheffield, behind Canadian Jeremy Bagshaw.
Lelliott will now focus on the European Championships in Berlin next week, when he goes in the 200m butterfly, 400m freestyle and the 1,500m freestyle.
