WEYMOUTH have been left in the dark for their scheduled trip to face Bideford tonight as a floodlight failure at the hosts’ ground has caused the game to be postponed.

The Terras were looking to avenge their weekend loss to St Neots by bouncing straight back with a win on the road, but instead they will have to wait for Saturday’s home clash with Hitchin Town for their next taste of Southern Premier League action.

With the game off, the Terras will be back in training tonight, and boss Jason Matthews believes it will be a great opportunity for his squad to prepare for a busy weekend.

The Weymouth player-manager told Echosport: “It’s a double-edged sword really, you want to get straight back into it after a defeat but at the same time it gives us a chance to look at a few things in training.

“We can work on a few things, for me personally I may take in a game, and we can prepare for the bank holiday weekend.

“It’s a 46-game season and we are three games into it so we just need to take it step by step.”

Matthews hinted that some of his squad could also now feature for the reserves when they face Swanage Town & Herston tomorrow (7.30pm).

Sam Poole, Mark Ford and Jamie West could all take part in the contest.

He added: “It also gives a few of the lads a chance to play in the reserves on Wednesday and we can build on it from there.”
