THE new Women’s National League Super 8 campaign is about to start and, for the second year running, Weymouth have been invited to play in the season opening elite level tournament.

This year the event will be hosted by Super 8 newcomers Surrey Orcas and played at the American School, Egham on Sunday, September 7.

Weymouth will be joined at the event by London Polonia, London Malory, Ashcombe Dorking, Hertfordshire and Orcas.

And coach Ian Loke’s side is going to have a significantly new look to their line-up, with several players leaving the squad over the summer.

Marta Ceri has signed for Lon-don Polonia and the Germany-based paring of Ramona Dienel and Nadine Klugge will only have limited input due to work and university commitments, respectively.

On the plus side, Weymouth have made a number of new signings.

Setter Carol Fogarty joins from Ashcombe, as does last year’s NVL player of the year, Michelle Conway.

Reigning Weymouth Beach Classic winner Lucy Boulton could also potentially turn out for the Seasiders.

Anna Wachula captains the team and she is supported by up and coming talent Angelika Sierjiej.

Conway and Yuri Chadavagh spearhead the wing attack, the defence will be organised by Italian duo Rossana Logoudice and Chiara Martello, and, with the opposite role being taken up by Celia Gregory, the squad is strong in all departments.

Weymouth will take a second setter, JoJo Choi, to Egham to allow for player rotation in what looks like being a very demanding tournament.

The team enters the event full of confidence following their tournament win in June where they defeated the Orcas in straight sets in the final.

Weymouth (from): Wachula, Boulton, Fogarty, Conway, Sierjiej, Choi, Logoudice, Martello, Chadavagh, Gregory.

Coach: Ian Loke
