NEW Star, Dolphin and Famous Old Spa all secured places in the semi-finals of the Dorset Sunday Intermediate Cup, while in the league there were wins for The Alex, Bakers Arms and Moby Dick’s.

Dolphin caused an upset in the cup when they defeated King’s Arms, formerly Dorothy, in an eight-goal thriller at Redlands.

King’s Arms, unbeaten in the league this season, were on the wrong end of a 5-3 loss.

The Spa had too much for West Mullen, running out 7-0 winners in their last-eight clash, while New Star overcame Market House 2-1 in the other all-Weymouth Sunday League tie.

Portland outfit New Star needed all their nous to see off a spirited home side at the Marsh.

The hosts took the lead in the 25th minute before both sides were reduced to 10 men.

Defender Stu Beddingfield was given his marching orders for New Star after reacting to a dangerous challenge.

Star stayed with three at the back as they searched for an equaliser but Market House defended stubbornly and took their slender lead into the break.

Things just didn’t seem to be clicking for New Star in the second period, however, a free-kick on 65 minutes found Stuart Warden and he headed in his first goal of the season.

Sean Stewart then ended a driving run with a curling shot past the keeper to complete the comeback 10 minutes later.

Meanwhile, in the league, bottom team Junction Trojans were again on the wrong end of a 4-3 scoreline.

Barry Stratford (2) and Phil Summers got their goals against Bakers Arms but Jamie Beasley, Steve Hillier, Simon Mitchem and Noel Mackie replied.

There was a third win for Sail-ors Return as goals from Matthew Balsdon and Reece Clarke helped them beat The Alex 3-2.

And Chris Shutlar got Weath-erbury’s consolation in a 5-1 thrashing by Moby Dick’s.
