JORDAN Copp insists being taken off early in midweek will not affect him in the long run, as the Terras bid for three crucial points against Biggleswade Town today (3pm).

The former Plymouth Argyle youngster was replaced after just 25 minutes by striker Tim Sills at Westleigh Park on Tuesday, as Weymouth shuffled their pack trailing 3-0 at the time, eventually succumbing to a 5-0 FA Trophy loss.

Copp admits he was “gutted” at the moment of the substitution, but is determined to take it in his stride and accepts that it was a decision made for the team.

“It won’t bother me and I won’t dwell on it. It’s a team game and we have got a strong squad, everyone digs in for each other,” he told Echosport.

“I was a bit gutted but at the end of the day whatever Jase (manager Jason Matthews) does with Lairdy, Paul and Micky on the bench it is all for the good of the team.

“We have a big game today to put it right.”

Today’s contest marks the start of an intense run of four games over the festive period for the Terras, and Copp, who is set to meet former club Truro City on New Year’s Day, believes the upcoming fixtures could be season defining in the long run.

Commenting on his side’s upcoming schedule, the 21-year old added: “It’s almost make or break really, with having so many games in such a small amount of time we have got to be so switched on.

“It’s a good job that we have got such a strong squad because it’s going to be difficult for Jase to use the same team for all four games up until New Year’s Day.

“Our main objective is promotion, whether we win the league or go through the play-offs.

“We have a lot of games in hand and we can really knuckle down and put some points on the board.”

And commenting on the immediate test in the Waders, who have added former St Neots skipper Gavin Hoyte to their ranks this week, Copp believes Weymouth will have to work hard to grab three points.

He claimed: “They are going to make it really difficult for us so we have got to be ready to stand up to them, get back to how we can play, and hopefully put three points on the table.”
