Welcome to the second edition of the Weymouth Town Guide – packed with information about the borough from events
and attractions, to sections on business, shopping, nightlife, arts, sports, education and the remarkable natural
environement.
I am focusing on young people during my mayoral year and encouraging a healthy lifestyle. There are many exciting
events going on in the borough during the summer for both visitors and residents and we really do have a
tremendous programme.
What is really exciting is that sandwiched between the International Handball Championships and the Beach
Volleyball Classic the following weekend we have, for the first time ever, the Weymouth and Portland Youth Sports
Festival on the beach from Monday, July 23, to Thursday, July 26.
My chosen charity for the year is the British Heart Foundation and I am hoping the charity’s swim across the bay
on Sunday, August 5, from the Pavilion end of Weymouth Bay to Greenhill will be well supported.
