EDWARD JOHN CLARK
Suddenly at the age of 97 on Monday 24th April, after a short illness.
Devoted husband to Irene (died 1991), much loved father of Gerald, father-in-law to Mary, grandfather of Harriet and Lucy, great-grandfather of Benjamin, and brother to Kathleen, Peggy and Phyllis.
He will be much missed by all his family and friends.
Ted was a Weymouth man to his core. Born in 1909, he married Irene Edmondson, a classmate from Weymouth Grammar School, in Chester 1933. where their respective work had taken them. He spent his professional life in the public library service in the North of England, rising to become the County Librarian of Durham, a post he held for almost twenty years. On retirement he returned to his beloved Weymouth and the friends of his youth. Latterly, he enjoyed to the full his time at Steepleton Manor Residential Home, and his last few weeks at the Weymouth Care Home.
The funeral will be held at the Weymouth Crematorium at 11.30am on Thursday 4th May 2006.
