AQUA SWIM SQUAD, sponsored by Tilda Rice, produced some fantastic swims to win their second round meet in the Peanut League.

First places went to Lucy Wilson (breaststroke and butterfly); Stephanie Wells (11 years backstroke and front crawl); Hannah Kellett (10 years breaststroke and backstroke), Tanya Smith (10 years freestyle), Andreas Vasnzais (10 years freestyle and butterfly),.and to Sarah Withers and Katy Allchorne in the relay.

There were first time wins for Oliver Mencarini (11 years backstroke) and Jamie Sirett (10 years breaststroke). The 10-year boys' medley relay team of Oliver Mencarini, James Allchorne, Dean Smith and Ben Bream and the nine-year-old boys were also successful.

The Aqua masters squad swam impressivley at Hitchin, retaining the Herts Masters Cup.

Impressive performers were Hayley Bettinson (first in all five events, 35-39 years); Julie Lowe (first in all five events, 40-45 years); Jacqui Jackson (won four events, 60 years). Andrew Jackson (won butterfly and freestyle 35-39 years and second in i/m); Steve Le Strange (won butterfly and i/m 40-44 years, third in freestyle); Geoff Thwaites (backstroke, breaststroke, individual medley, 50-54 years, and second in freestyle and butterfly).

Relay winners were the womens 4 X 50m and 4 X 25m freestyle and the mixed i/m 4 X 25m. The men were second in the 4 X 25m freestyle.

Racing for the first time, Warwick Ringham was third four times and second in the breaststroke in the 25-plus. Clive Pearce was second in the butterfly and third in the freestyle, 35-plus. Paul Kuncir was third in the 35-plus individual medley. Ian Bays was fourth three times and third once in the 45-plus. Anne Thwaites (second in the backstroke and freestyle, 50-plus). Sue Kellett (third backstroke, 35-plus). Jill Ogier (second breastroke, freestyle, and i/m, third backstroke.).

Aqua train up to four times a week at Queenswood Pool. Junior trials are held on Friday nights at the pool (5.45pm,-6.15pm). Masters swimmers meet on Mondays (8.15pm). Phone O1707-855694 for further details.
