YOU can’t beat a good sing-song and few do it better than The Harmonious Funk Choir.
The Harmonious Funk Choir are joining up with the Dorchester Big Band for a spectacular concert at Charlton Down on Sunday, July 17
Since their formation in September last year in Dorchester by husband and wife musical directors Ben and Hanna Trevorrow, the choir has grown in popularity.
They now boast over sixty male and female members, aged from 18 to over 80.
There is also a separate junior choir for children aged eight to 14 years old.
The choir perform fresh and original arrangements of pop, rock and soul songs, from classics such as Motown classics Ain’t No Mountain High Enough and Signed, Sealed, Delivered, to more modern hits such as Take That’s Rule The World and Use Somebody by the Kings of Leon.

So far this year the choir have performed at a number of concerts and community functions, but their performance at the Herrsion Hall in Charlton Down next Sunday, July 17, promises to be the highlight of their year.
This concert is a collaboration with the Dorchester Big Band and will feature both ensembles playing separately as well as coming together for something really special.
The Dorchester Big Band have been running for over six years and have grown to have over 40 members, boasting one of the largest reed sections in the country.
The doors open at Herrison Hall at 7.00pm with tickets priced at £6 for adults and £4 for those under 18.

The Weymouth College music lecturer will be hosting a solo recital at the Old School Hall in Upwey on Saturday, July 16.

And finally, new community radio station AIR FM is looking to showcase local musical talent.
As we all know, there’s plenty of that round these parts.
AIR FM supremo Carl Greenham is inviting local bands and solo artists to send in their albums and sample CDs to the station.
