THIS year's Open4Business extravaganza has been set with an Olympic theme.
The dates of the festival have been set for October 6 to 16.
Gareth Jones, who is Weymouth and Portland Borough Council regeneration and business development officer, has been appointed chairman of the event. He will work closely with his counterpart at West Dorset District Council Bob Moore, the steering group and three contracted companies to form the Open4Business working group.
The three contracted companies are Popcorn Marketing, Creative Solutions and Poundbury Systems Ltd.
Popcorn will handle public relations and marketing, Creative Solutions will be responsible for event planning and the awards dinner, and Poundbury Systems will handle the website.
The 2008 festival and awards also aims to encourage young people to become involved in the business community.
There will be seven award categories, including a new 'Flame' award for the top business person in 2008.
There will be more than 20 events held during the Open4Business Festival fortnight, including workshops, presentations, business breakfasts, seminars and exhibitions.
The dinner will again be hosted by Weymouth College and operated by students.
