| SECOND BASE: Karenlee Knott of the Enterprise Connection which is expanding to a new base on the Granby |
THE Enterprise Connection is expanding from its start-up project at Poundbury in Dorchester to Chickerell.
It has set up a second base in Avon Close, on the Granby Industrial Estate.
The new Enterprise Connection Weymouth has office space and light industrial. Its unit aims to allow more businesses to move out of home offices and into professionally serviced accommodation.
It also has meeting rooms for hire, with catering facilities and secretarial and event staff on hand when required.
Karenlee Knott, centre manager at Enterprise Connection Poundbury and Weymouth, said: "Our mission is to offer professional accommodation that is affordable, with easy-in-easy-out licences to support and develop a diverse portfolio of profitable entrepreneurial companies by offering a variety of support for businesses.
"Regular training programmes, through Enterprise Training Ltd, tailored to specific needs for tenants and local businesses are also planned."
She added: "In addition we will be able to offer virtual office support' to any business operating from elsewhere, perhaps from home, but in need of secretarial, administrative and telephone answering services.
"This might be particularly suitable for owner managers who are away from their office base for much of the time, do not employ support staff and want to manage their business more effectively."
The Granby and Lynch Lane Business Forum is now based at Enterprise Connection Weymouth, as the management of the forum has recently been taken over by the business and commercial development unit at Weymouth College. The forum was established in 2006 to help develop and implement schemes to promote the future sustainability and growth of businesses on the two estates in Weymouth.
