A THRIVING Dorset law firm has contradicted the gloomy Brexit forecasts by announcing substantial growth figures.

Blanchards Bailey, which has offices in Dorchester, Shaftesbury and Blandford Forum, has rallied against the uncertainty both domestically and internationally to see its growth increase by 40 per cent over the past three years.

Predictions of a recession have been voiced in various quarters after a tumultuous year following the UK’s vote to leave the EU and the subsequent fall-out.

The value of the British pound has wavered over the economic ambiguity stemming from the Brexit vote, while the recent Autumn Statement announced that economic growth has slowed in Britain. The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) added to the misery by stating that optimism is now at a four-year low.

Yet, despite the wave of negativity, Blanchards Bailey is proving there is still plenty to be optimistic about in the future following its upturn.

Sarah Heath, head of commercial services, said: “We have seen an increased number of clients coming to us with concerns for advice in the current business environment.

“Having been able to achieve steady growth over the past few years, we are well equipped to guide them through any uncertainty they may have and can impart them with a strong sense of confidence moving forward.”

The upturn in business has also sparked a recruitment drive.

Jerome Dodge, principal and expert in wills and estate planning, added: “The year has seen increasing demand for new personnel and services to meet growing business needs.”

“We reacted quickly to the challenge, successfully bringing in new talented members of staff both to strengthen the expertise in existing services and to lead the launch of a new one.” This has allowed us to retain our excellent personal client service along with seeing rapid growth as we continue to support people through the good and bad times.”

Blanchards Bailey’s prominent growth and success has led them to again be recognised by The Legal 500 as among the best firms in the UK. Four of the firm’s partners have also been personally recommended for their expertise in commercial litigation, agriculture and personal tax, trusts and probate.

Principal, Alan Horne, added: “The Blanchards Bailey team has certainly thrived amongst what some may call an uncertain year. Our reliable counsel, positive results, professional expertise and strong culture have all contributed to our growth and our optimistic outlook for the future.”
