The best food and drink that Bridport has to offer was commended during an evening of celebration.

The Bridport Local Food Group welcomed about 100 people to its annual general meeting at Bridport Town Hall, where it also held its annual Front of House Awards.

During the evening, guests were given a summary of the year’s activities that had been undertaken by the volunteers who make up the the charity.

The summary was provided by chairman Jay Anderson who, after two years in the role, stepped down and new chairman Kathy Dare was voted in.

Activities during the year included the Bridport Best Breakfast, the Bridport Food Festival, the production of the Bridport and surrounding area food and drink guide, the launch of the Bridport Community Cooking Kit and the annual Front of House awards.

Sponsored by Baboo Gelato, the awards saw more than 500 nominations from food and drink establishments in the area.

Ms Dare said: "More than 500 nominations from 39 different establishments were received from the general public; praise indeed for the standard of service that had been given during their visit to our local food and drink establishments.

"Everyone nominated and the business they represent should be very proud.”

Individual award winners, who each received a plaque and cash, include:

Restaurant - Heather Smith of Pickled Ginger

Fruit and Drink Retail - Angie Denman of Fruit n Two Veg, Beaminster

Restaurant - Beach and Barnicott

Pub - Ropemakers

Fruit and Drink Retail - Frampton’s Butchers

A team award was presented to the establishment with the most nominations in each category.
