A naval electronics and systems company opened its doors for potential employees in efforts to drive more people into the industry.

Atlas Elektronik UK (AEUK) held an open evening event at the end of January to show what the company had on offer.

The event took place at the company’s headquarters in Winfrith, where guests were invited to speak with current AEUK apprentices and graduates, line managers and the learning and development team.

The evening also included a tour of AEUK’s facilities to showcase its work, along with the towed array production area where the company builds a number of its products.

The company’s apprenticeships scheme has been running since 2015, enabling young people to earn wages while bridging the gap between work and education, learning essential skills along the way.

AEUK is a company that believes in "nurturing" the next generation of talent, having won the Outstanding Contribution to Apprenticeships Award and the Young Chamber Award at the Dorset Business Awards in 2017.

AEUK also boasts an IMECHE accredited graduate scheme, supporting graduates achieving their aspirations of professional recognition.

Graduates take part in major projects from the beginning, with all the support they need to make progress as they build their careers. These projects require frequent innovation and graduates and apprentices become vital for the future of AEUK’s world-leading technology as the company grows.

Russell Warren, HR director at AEUK, said: “Every year our apprenticeship and graduate schemes grow and more and more we see the importance of investing in the training of young people, as they bring new ideas and new skills to the industry.

“I look forward to meeting our new apprentices and graduates for 2018.”
