A BUSINESS owner has donated to the Echo Christmas Toy Appeal as a heartfelt tribute to an old friend.
Peter Andrews, of Andrews Haulage in Wareham, has given £100 to ensure needy children across the county receive a gift this Christmas.
Peter said: “I saw that Portland Stone had donated to the Toy Appeal, which was owned by a good friend of mine, John Nash.
“Sadly, on the day that the article was published, he passed away.
“He had been battling lung cancer for three years.
“He was a good man and I just thought this would be a fitting way to commemorate him.”
The donation will top up funds raised and ensure that every child who has signed up receives a gift this Christmas.
Peter said: “Christmas is a time for giving, particularly to worthy local causes and particularly for the children.”
