AGE Concern and the Dorset Echo are running a Swim for Free campaign, calling for free swimming for under-16s and over-60s in Weymouth and Portland.
We are asking Weymouth and Portland Borough Council to reconsider its decision to reject the free swimming proposals that were introduced by the Government last year.
So far the campaign has received the support of seven-times Channel swimmer Mervyn Hughes, local swimming coach Ed Stevens and award-winning young swimmer Sian Brookes, who suffers from cerebral palsy and wants others to benefit from swimming the way she has.
It has also been backed by South Dorset MP Jim Knight, Olympics Minister Tessa Jowell and Culture Secretary Andy Burnham.
If you would like to add your support to our campaign please write your name in the comments section below.
