Popular motorcycle manufacturer KTM has confirmed that its stunning new X-Bow sports car will make its UK debut at the Autosport International Racing Car Show, starting on Thursday.
The high-performance X-Bow marks KTM's move into the four-wheel scene and will be presented to UK punters finished in the optional "Gleaming White" colour.
The appearance will mark the X-Bow's first UK outing following its world premiere at the Geneva International Motor Show last year.
The Autosport Show takes place at Birmingham's NEC from January 10-13.
Customer orders for the road-legal track car have exceeded all expectations and series production is scheduled to commence with a run of 100 limited-edition "Dallara Series" models.
The series will feature extra equipment, to boost the track-day sporty potential of the X-Bow.
Subsequently, KTM will produce up to 1,000 X-Bow sports cars a year at its new dedicated four-wheeled Centre of Excellence manufacturing facility in Graz, Austria.
KTM is in partnership with Audi, and the X-Bow's four-cylinder TFSI long-stroke, four-valve engine - combined with an exhaust turbocharger plus an intercooler - delivers 228lb/ft of torque between 2,200rpm and 4,000rpm. The 240bhp of peak power arrives at 6,000rpm, but even more powerful engine variations, in the 300bhp range, are also planned.
The drive unit has a manual six-gear transmission, which is also made by VW and can be equipped with a limited-slip-differential if desired.
Extensive wind-testing in Dallara's tunnel has meant the X-Bow has been equipped with a prominent diffuser at the rear.
This enables the KTM X-Bow to achieve a huge downforce of about 200kg at a speed of 200kmh which the company says is around three times more than most other supersport cars.
Prices have not been finalised but are expected to start at about 46,000 euros.
