BROADMAYNE Village now has a new bus shelter at the bottom of Knighton Lane, close to the crossroads at the centre of the village.

The need for it was brought to the attention of the parish council by villagers who have to wait on a windy corner for the bus.

It was also identified by Dorchester Youth Extra in their report “Nowhere to go Nothing to Do” as young people waiting for the school bus every day also had nowhere to shelter.

The hard standing and shelter has been funded by the parish council who will also be responsible for its maintenance and regular cleaning and a grant of £1,000 has been received from the county council towards the cost of the shelter.

June Salt, Chairman of Broadmayne Parish Council, commented – “This is the second bus shelter provided by the parish council.

The one along the Main Street is not now used so often as a result of the bus routes changing.

The main bus service to the village now uses Knighton Lane so this was the obvious place to put the new shelter.

It has been installed in time for the new school term and the autumn weather”.
