• BROADMAYNE Parish Council, at their last meeting, expressed thanks to all those who regularly pick up litter in the village and requested that others would join them.

Council refused a planning decision to erect 50 stables, together with ancillary accommodation, including owner’s house and carer’s flat with associated car parking and access at Whitcombe.

Planning approvals included: the erection of a dwelling and garage at 26 Martel Close, a proposed entrance porch and two-storey extension at 10 Martel Close and, on appeal, the erection of a detached dwelling and external landscaping at 1 Martel Close.

Under consultation is agricultural building on land adjacent to Chalky Road.

There were no objections, but the height and setting of building needed to be confirmed as it is in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

The council agreed to write to the Planning Inspectorate to emphasize its objection to the erection a detached dwelling with ancillary works at 22 Chalky Road, for which there had been an appeal against refusal.

The clerk had received an acknowledgment from West Dorset District Council indicating that a full report would be sent with regard to 10 Main Street and was asked to check the position with regard to the fence to the garage and games room on the Cowley House site.

The county council had now completed its replacement tree planting programme in Martel Close and the clerk was asked to write and thank them.

The Enforcement Officer at the Western Divisional Highways had written to all residents to ask them not to park on the verges.

The clerk supplied photographs of the damage to Cowleaze Road caused by new development and the county council has written to the land owner at the time of development.

The clerk and responsible financial officer will be leaving at the end of July and arrangements were made to advertise the post and appoint an interview panel.

With regard to the Broadmayne Sports Facility, the council formally agreed the division of the commuted monies held by the district council for the Oakwood development as 75% Broadmayne and 25% West Knighton.

Knightsford Parish Council had also agreed the same division and negotiations are continuing with E F Saunders Limited.

During the democratic period 1 member of the public was present together with District Coun Alan Thacker.

Members of the parish are always welcome to attend and speak at council meetings by prior arrangement with the chairman and the next meeting will be held on Monday, April 6 2009 at 7.30 pm in the hall at the back of the Methodist Church.

Agendas will be posted on 4 village notice boards and the website a week before the meeting.
