A CONCERT by Parnham Voices will take place at St Michael’s and All Angels Church in Rampisham at 7pm on Saturday, June 1.

There will be complimentary wine and nibbles and all proceeds will go to church funds.

Cream teas will be available, together with a range of plants, cakes, preserves and country produce. Do take advantage of the chance to see this fine small country house garden.

Access is by car up the lane from the crossroads in Chilfrome, or you can leave your car in the village and walk (about 15 minutes).

All proceeds will go to the Holy Trinity Church in Chilfrome.

SWING your partner! Cattistock Festival weekend is coming up towards the end of June and festivities begin on the evening of Friday, June 21 with a Barn Dance in the Savill Hall. The caller will be Kate Carpenter and the evening starts at 7.30pm. There will be a bar available. Tickets cost £10 and can be bought at the Fox and Hounds, Maiden Newton Stores and No 64 Newsagents. The event is in aid of Cattistock Church.

The church will be open with recitals and bell ringing. The hunt kennels will also be open and teas will be served in the Savill Hall. There will be an art gallery with an exhibition of safari photographs by Peter Farmer and a wood turning workshop. Proceeds from the Cattistock Festival will be divided between the Cattistock Community Fund (the newly formed grant making fund that supports all village amenities and voluntary activities) and the Cattistock Fabric Fund.

THERE WILL be a Midsummer Barn Dance with the local ceilidh band Jump at the Sun on Saturday, June 22 in Frampton Village Hall. Doors will open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. The £10 ticket (£7 for 16 year olds and under) entitles you to an evening of fun with a ploughman’s supper. There will also be a bar and raffle. Tickets are available from Frampton and Long Ash garages.

The event is organised by Friends of St Mary’s and proceeds will be in support of the refurbishment of the church building.

A WARM welcome awaits you on Sunday, June 23 at the 2013 Evershot Country Fair in West Dorset’s highest village.

Opening at midday, the country fair has traditional rural crafts, an artisan food producers’ marquee, a range of interesting stands and plenty to entertain. You can watch crafts people at work; talk to a bee keeper, blacksmith, taxidermist and wood carver. For children there will be a bouncy castle, games and ringside displays. You could perhaps take a trailer ride through the beautiful countryside of the Melbury Estate and deer park.

If you are hungry, enjoy a hog roast, BBQ or ploughman’s lunch; quench your thirst with local ales and cider. As is traditional on such occasions, there will be plenty of tea, cakes, soft drinks and ice cream.

This popular rural event promises to be a great day out for the family. Free Entrance for children is free, £2 for adults. Parking is free. A town crier will open the fair and perform announcements throughout the afternoon.

SERENDIPITY Concert, an exciting concert featuring an accomplished recorder group joined by a singing group from Greenford School, will take place in Maiden Newton Church at 3pm on Sunday, June 23. The music will range from early Renaissance dances and Baroque through to contemporary composers, including jazz and film arrangements – something for everyone!
