QUIZ Evenings always seem to be very popular in the villages and everyone has lots of fun trying to work out the answers to some often quite tricky questions.

Most recently we enjoyed one run by the Tennis Club in Cattistock. On that occasion the winners were the Cattistock Crocs and congratulations go to them (Neil and Roma Rowland, Phil and Cathy Evans and Peter and Margaret Long).

The following evening many of us turned up for the Rampisham Quiz, some for the intellectual challenge, but most for the excellent food that always makes this event special! On this occasion the winning team was Pam’s People. Well done to you!

THE NEXT Quiz to be held in our area will be Neil’s Quiz in the Fox and Hounds, Cattistock, on Saturday December 6. The cost is £3 per head with teams of up to 6 people.

All proceeds from this event will go to There4Grace to help people with spinal injuries.

THE FAMOUS Melbury Osmond Big Quiz has come round again and will take place in the village hall on Friday December 12.

Tables of no more than 6 people are preferred and tickets cost £7 per person. The hall will open at 7pm, ready for a 7.30pm start.

To book a table, please contact Annette Caesley on 01935 83659 or Theresa Oaksford on 01935 83410. Tickets will include a high class supper, and Bob’s Brilliant Bar will be offering wines, beers and soft drinks.

The theme this year is ‘World War One’, so why not enter into the spirit by dressing up as an ambulance or train driver, a miner, a soldier, sailor, engineer, a clippie, a nurse …… or use your own imagination and come up with something completely original.

All proceeds will go towards the improvements and running of the village hall.

IF YOU prefer to take your time over quiz questions, you could buy a copy of Children of Fiji’s Pub Quiz for £1.

There are 70 questions (mostly cryptic), all relating to things you would expect to find in a typical pub.

Please contact us for details of how to obtain your copy, either by post or by email. The closing date is not until Sunday January 4, 2015, so you will have a chance to work on it with friends and family over Christmas.

FATHER Christmas is inviting children to come along to his grotto at the Cattistock Christmas Bazaar at 2.30pm on Saturday December 6.

The event takes place in the Savill Hall and there will be numerous stalls, including house plants, Christmas produce, bottle tombola, cakes and savouries, raffle, bric-a-brac, jewellery and scarves, books and a bran tub.

All proceeds will help to pay for the church insurance, which costs £3,500.

EVERSHOT is raising money for a play park. At midday on Saturday December 6 there will be a Children and Babies Table Top Sale in the village hall.

To book a table please call Louisa Spearing on 01935 83538 or Christina Jones on 01935 83588.

FROME St Quintin’s Carol Service will take place at St Mary’s Church on December 14, followed by mince pies and mulled wine, along with the Christmas Draw.
