Responders have a lot of bottle!

ON A WILD Tuesday night, a number of Cattistock First Responders braved the weather to count up the money in the 50p tower in their local pub, the Fox and Hounds. A total of £150 was counted up this time.

Liz Flight, landlady of this popular pub, singled out one of her regulars, Pat, who contributes 50p every time she has lunch at the pub.

Apart from covering ongoing running expenses, funds are being used to enhance the equipment that the First Responders have at their disposal.

An Oximeter costing £350 will soon be delivered. The correct name for the Oximeter is an ‘oxygen saturation monitor’. It measures the amount of oxygen, as a percentage, that is being carried around the body on the red blood cells.

The reason one is needed is to determine whether a patient needs oxygen or not, and, if a patient does need oxygen, to make sure that the right amount is given. It is just as important not to give too much, as not enough.
