Responders have a lot of bottle!

6:30pm Tuesday 1st December 2009

ON A WILD Tuesday night, a number of Cattistock First Responders braved the weather to count up the money in the 50p tower in their local pub, the Fox and Hounds. A total of £150 was counted up this time.

Liz Flight, landlady of this popular pub, singled out one of her regulars, Pat, who contributes 50p every time she has lunch at the pub.

Apart from covering ongoing running expenses, funds are being used to enhance the equipment that the First Responders have at their disposal.

An Oximeter costing £350 will soon be delivered. The correct name for the Oximeter is an ‘oxygen saturation monitor’. It measures the amount of oxygen, as a percentage, that is being carried around the body on the red blood cells.

The reason one is needed is to determine whether a patient needs oxygen or not, and, if a patient does need oxygen, to make sure that the right amount is given. It is just as important not to give too much, as not enough.

Cost is £4 for members.

To book your lunch or find out more, please phone Anne on 01305 265895.

This is a great opportunity for all the family to share an excellent meal in a relaxed atmosphere.

There will be cereals, toast, cooked breakfasts, tea, coffee and juice available.

Come along and enjoy the food, chat or read the Sunday papers!

Members of HMS Cattistock and the ex-commander of Chantmarle Police College will be present.

Tickets cost £6 each (to include a glass of wine) and there will be a raffle during the evening.

To make an advance booking or buy tickets, please contact Daphne Hawkins (01300 320029), Karen Graham (01300 320824) or Sally Turner (01300 320116).

All proceeds will go to St Mary’s Church Restoration Appeal.

St Mary’s PCC invites all families throughout the benefice to this very special service, during which an orange, sweets and candle are given to each child.

The service will be followed by tea and coffee for grown-ups, and party food and drinks for small people.

All children will be supervised during the candle lighting, so you do not need to worry if you have only one or two adults to look after a group of children.

Take time from the hustle and bustle of the season and step back in time to enjoy a traditional carol service interspersed with bible readings.

The service will be followed by mince pies and mulled wine.

If the weather is wet, the singers will move to the village hall.

The Saxon Arms will be providing mulled wine and mince pies.

A collection will be made for the Weldmar Hospicecare Trust.

Please contact Alan Newton on 01305 265895 for more details.
