Cattistock prepares for the launch of 1000 balloons!
THE WEATHER was perfect for this year’s Children of Fiji Balloon Release from the children’s play area in Cattistock on Sunday, July 10.
A dedicated team of helpers worked hard to get the thousand balloons blown up, tied, labeled and placed in the huge net within the recommended 2 to 3-hour period (before the balloons start to go down).
Then at about 3.30pm the brightly coloured balloons were set free and made a spectacular sight as they soared into the sky.
The person whose balloon travels the furthest will win a hot air balloon ride for two. Returns have already started to arrive and the furthest at the time of writing reached Ryde in the Isle of Wight.
ST MARY’S Wives’ Group has a mystery outing arranged for Thursday, July 28. The only clue is that it will be ‘somewhere by the sea’!
The cost is £9 and friends are welcome to join in.

FRIENDS of St Mary’s Church are organizing Cream Teas at St Mary’s Church, Stratton on Sunday, July 31 and Sunday, September 4 from 2.30 to 5 pm.
There is also a free fun family quiz available in the church and winners will be announced at the cream tea on Sunday, July 31.
