CERNE ABBAS FOOTBALL Club: Don’t forget about this year’s Boxing Day match!

There may be a game for the youngster if enough of them are there as well as a game for all – but that’s to be decided on the morning.

In any case, just turn up at 10:30am for an 11am kick-off – be it as a player or a supporter, everyone is very welcome for some fresh air, an exciting match and a real laugh!

NATIVITY plays by Cerne Abbas First School take place on Tuesday, December 18 at 1:30pm and Wednesday, December 19 at 6pm.

Both are held in St. Mary’s Church and everyone is warmly invited to attend.

BUTTERFLY Conservation: A Conservation Action Day takes place at Giant Hill on Saturday, December 16.

The day lasts from 10am – 4pm, the team will continue the conservation work along the downland on Giant Hill.

This is part of important restoration work of the ancient grassland in order to allow the thriving of many important butterfly species.

These sessions are designed for new parents to come along with their child, stay the morning and get to know everyone.

CERNE VALLEY YOUR Views, Dorset Echo: Allow me to issue a brief reminder that this regular column on newsworthy events around Cerne Abbas and District will cease with the beginning of 2013.

I am sadly lacking the time now to provide and collate regular columns and don’t believe in doing a “rush job”!

Having written for the Echo for the last six years I can confirm though that – albeit now on a voluntary basis – it has been a fun and rewarding task!

Focusing on my articles and leading a rather busy life outside my writings, it has always surprised me anew how many people read this column with interest…could you be the next “reporter”?

I am happy to explain my current system of information flow to any budding writer, it really isn’t hard and requires about an hour per week if you wish to contribute with a weekly column rather than, say, a fortnightly one.

If you are interested in becoming my successor please contact me, Christina, on 01300 341102 or e-mail cj.juppe@talk21.com.
