CERNE ABBAS DIAMOND Jubilee Celebrations: Following last year’s successful street party celebrating the Royal Wedding, plans are now underfoot to repeat an even better event this year to commemorate Her Majesty’s 60 years on the throne.

BUCKLAND NEWTON CROCUS Walk: The annual Crocus Walk is approaching fast so put the following date in your diary: Saturday, March 17.

A faithful group of residents from the village and around is once again set to enjoy a lovely spring walk for a very worthy cause!

An amazing £ 1,100 was raised by the walk last year, all in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer Charity, and it is hoped to do even better this year!

The walk starts at 10am from the Halsey Arms, Pulham and the main circular route will be approximately four miles long.

More details will be printed here nearer the time – in the meantime why not look for something pink to wear?

But don’t worry – it is not obligatory!

You might also want to book your place for the planned carvery lunch at the Halsey Arms, at £ 8.95 per person which includes a donation to the charity.

BUTTERFLY Conservation: A Conservation Action Day takes place at Alners Gorse Reserve on Sunday, March 11.

Woodland and scrub management work will be completed, this will be the last work party before the spring so don’t miss out!

The day will start at 10am and end around 4pm but do join at whatever time is convenient for you.

Soup and baked potatoes will be available for lunch.

MINTERNE MAGNA SNOWDROPS can be admired at Minterne Gardens from Saturday, February 11!

The gardens will be open daily from 10am – 4pm to give visitors the opportunity to visit the spectacular array of snowdrops.

Come and enjoy these peaceful gardens as everything awakens and view the ongoing work.

Rhododendrons that have lain dormant for some time have been uncovered and a summer flowering garden to attract birds and insects is being created.

You might even spot a pair of Red Kites!

Entrance to the gardens is £ 3 per person or £ 5 per couple.

CERNE VALLEY ANNUAL General Meeting: This year’s AGM takes place on Tuesday, March 13 at 7:30pm in the Parish Room.

This is your chance to find out more about the trust and how it has been able to help the young people in the valley.

If you think the Trust could help you or your youth group, do approach the trustees, all requests will be carefully evaluated.

URGENT: An Advertising Manager for The Newsletter is still wanted!

This benefice news magazine, wich is available in Buckland Newton, Cerne Abbas, Godmanstone and Minterne Magna, is still looking for a volunteer to administer the renewal of advertising contracts and deal with any advertising queries as well as small ads.

This is a potentially very interesting position that needs to be filled now – efficient handling of advertising is very important to its existence.
