CERNE ABBAS CERNE Abbas First School: The school would like to let everyone know that Andrea Watson is organising a Fish and Chip Supper on Saturday, March 31.

Live Band “Tazz” will contribute to the entertainment, tickets are £ 15.

Andrea is running the London Marathon in April in aid of Julia’s House and Aid International and hopes that many will attend this event which starts at 7pm until late.

For those of you who are not aware: Julia’s House is a Dorset Charity supporting terminally ill children.

Furthermore, the school is holding a Spring Assembly on Thursday, March 29 in St. Mary’s Church.

SURGERY: Please be aware that Cerne Abbas Surgery is closed as usual over the Easter period.

The surgery will be closed on Good Friday, April 6 as well as Saturday, April 7, Easter Day and Easter Monday.

It will reopen on Tuesday, April 10.

CHURCH Fete: The annual Church Fete in July might still seem a long way away but preparations for this immensely popular event are starting now!

BUCKLAND NEWTON CHURCH Cleaning: The team of cleaners at the Holy Rood Church is still recruiting new members!

The more people participate, the easier the task and it can be a lot of fun, too!

Wednesday, April 4 is one of the main days when the church is being cleaned ready for Easter.

This might be an ideal way to find out if you would like to be part of the cleaning team!

A REMINDER that Dominey’s Garden and Arboretum are open on Sunday, April 1 for the first time this season.

Come and admire spring growth in the gardens, various plants and bulbs, some bursting into second flowering!

The gardens will be open from 2pm – 6pm, entry is £ 4, children go free.

A LENT lunch will be taking place in the Village Hall on Saturday, March 31.

The village is very fortunate to have many helpers donating homemade soup so come along and enjoy great company as well!

GARDENING Club: Chris Evans, Horticultural Office for Bournemouth Borough Council, will be guest speaker at the next meeting of the Lydden Vale Gardening Club.

His talk will be entitled “Fresh Ideas for Summer Bedding and Containers” and, having won many awards himself, he should be fascinating to listen to!

SYDLING ST. NICHOLAS A CHURCH Spring Clean is being held on Saturday, March 31.

This annual event is always very enjoyable, if you are able to help come along to the church from 10am onwards.

Coffee and biscuits will be provided, it would be much appreciated if you could bring some cleaning materials or furniture polish along.

GODMANSTONE A COFFEE Morning will be held on Tuesday, March 27 in the Village Hall.

It will last from 10:30 – noon and everyone is welcome to join.
