LYDDEN Vale Gardening Club: The next talk deals with the subject of ‘Greenhouse Gardening’ and will be held at Buckland Newton Village Hall.

Mike Burks, of Castle Gardens, will tell you how to improve ‘the fruits’ of your greenhouse. It takes place on Wednesday, October 31, at 7.30pm.

WAYFARERS: The next meeting tackles the question “Do we support the death of the High Street?” and takes place in The Parish Room on Tuesday, October 30.

It lasts from 8pm-9.30pm and everyone is welcome.

LYDDEN Ladies: This group enjoyed an interesting talk by Margaret Bax on her work as a teacher in Dorchester prison.

The Lydden Ladies are a jolly group of ladies, meeting monthly on a Wednesday evening and are always happy to consider new members.

They meet on a Tuesday evening from 8pm-10pm.

Cerne Abbas HISTORICAL Society: The next talk will take place on Thursday, October 27, at 7:30pm in the village hall.

The speaker will be Dr Jon Murden who will talk about Dorchester Museum, its past, present and future.

Non-members who would like to enjoy this talk are welcome against payment of a small fee at the door.

HORITCULTURAL Society: Next month’s talk will be held by artist Sally Pinhey.

It takes place on Tuesday, November 13, at 7.30pm.

Sally Pinhey is one of Britain’s foremost botanical artists and has passed on her knowledge through many teaching posts, which include Kingston Maurward College.

Non-members are very welcome to attend against a small fee of £ 2 at the door.

Godmanstone A HALLOWEEN Quiz Night is taking place on Saturday October 27 in the Village Hall.

Everyone is welcome to attend for a 7.30pm start.

A bar and soft drinks will be available.
