ON TUESDAY, November 18 the Chickerell and Charlestown Townswomen’s Guild will be holding a gathering with a special visit from Sue Danton with her Posh Rocks. This will be a great opportunity to buy some unusual Christmas presents. The evening will be starting at 7.30pm at Marshallsay Court. Visitors and new members are always made very welcome.

  • THE Samaritans are holding a quiz night at the Willowbed Hall, Chickerell on Friday, November 21. It starts at 7.30pm and tickets are £5 per head which includes a delicious ploughman’s supper. Please feel free to bring along your own drinks. You will need to book a table in advance and to do this you will need to ring 783162 or 772353. Why not get a group of friends together and have an evening out?
  • THE St Mary’s Church grand Christmas bazaar is being held in the Willowbed Hall on Saturday, November 22. The doors open at 2pm and the fun lasts right through to 4.30pm. I am told there will be something for everyone including a special visit from Father Christmas! Take your camera along and take a picture of your children with the man himself and enjoy a cup of coffee with a mince pie while you listen to carol singing from the children in the Chickerell School Choir. There will also be all kinds of stalls available to browse including homemade cakes and seasonal goodies, Christmas gifts, a tombola, a bottle stall, arts and craft stalls and a super Christmas raffle with some great prizes to be won. Entrance will be £1, which will include a cup of tea or coffee and a mince pie. It sounds like it’s going to be a very busy afternoon!
  • IF YOU are interested in knowing more about the Willowbed Hall committee and what they are planning for 2009 then please do go along to their AGM being held on Monday, November 24 at 7pm in the Town Council Suite at the Willowbed Hall. Everyone is most welcome.
  • NOAH’S Ark pre school and out of school club are holding their Christmas bingo evening on Friday, November 28 at the Willowbed Hall. The doors open at 7pm with eyes down at 7.30pm. Lots of Christmas goodies are up for grabs and it promises to be a fun night for all the family.
  • ALSO being held on Friday, November 28 is a Christmas concert at the Chickerell Methodist Church with Brass Tacks. It starts at 7.30pm and there will also be a raffle and refreshments. Everyone is welcome.
  • THE Chickerell Methodist Church’s coffee morning will be on Saturday, November 29 from 10am through to noon. There will also be many stalls including homemade cakes, handicrafts, tombola, gifts, bric-a-brac and a raffle. All friends are welcome.
