THE ever popular tea dances continue at the Willowbed Hall on Friday, March 6. It starts at 2pm and the fun continues until 4pm. Refreshments are available and there will be a raffle, entrance costs just £2 and all proceeds go to Age Concern. Non dancers are welcome to attend.

  • THE Chickerell Monday Club meeting will be held on Monday, March 9 at 7.30pm in the Fairfield Community Hall. Their speaker this month will be Mr M Brown who will be talking about bees. New members are always welcome.
  • THE Victory Hall coffee mornings are still very popular. The price has risen from 50p to £1 but you are now able to go back for a refill of your drink or seconds of biscuits!
  • ON THURSDAY, March 12 at Willowbed Hall there will be a coffee morning in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society. The doors open at 10am until noon and everyone is welcome to attend. There will be a tombola and a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses to be won. The event is being organised by Kath Davidge of Chickerell, to raise funds for her sponsored hike to the Inca Trail in Peru during May 2009. The Inca Trail follows a 50-mile route through the Peruvian Andes to the ruins of Machu Picchu. Kath is hoping to raise £3,000 in sponsorship for the Alzheimer’s Society. Good luck Kath!
  • THE Chickerell Community Litter Team will be starting their main campaign this month. Each household in Chickerell can expect to receive an information leaflet posted through their door at the beginning of each month over a period of 10 months. March is focusing on improving communication on litter issues. They will be asking you to spread the word to family, friends, neighbours and social groups. Their public meeting will be held on Friday, March 20 at Willowbed Hall from 7pm to 8.30pm. Refreshments will be available after the meeting. The evening will be run on the same principle as the BBC programmes Any Questions and Question Time, with a panel chaired by Oliver Letwin, MP.   • THE Samaritans of Dorset are holding a quiz night on Friday, March 27 at 7.30pm in the Willowbed Hall. The cost of the evening is £5 per person, which will include a ploughman’s supper. Please bring along your own drinks. The Samaritans need £25,000 a year to provide their services to people in distress in the county of Dorset. All of this money has to be raised locally by unpaid volunteers and friends. This quiz night will be part of the fundraising efforts and they would love you to join them for a fun filled evening.
