• The Mayor and Mayoress of Chickerell, Councillor John Worth and Mrs Pamela Worth held their Civic Day on Friday, 19th June. Mayors, Chairmen and their escorts attended from all over Dorset to see what Chickerell had to offer. For some of them it was their first visit to the town and they were amazed that it covered such a large area!

The group visited the Land Registry first thing to be given a talk by John Sugden about the history of the Land Registry and what they are responsible for, it was then on to the Chickerell Army Camp where they were met and accompanied by Major Baz Ironton on a walk along the firing range stopping to admire the fantastic view of the Jurassic Coast.

Lunch was served by Major Ironton’s exceptional catering team before it was time to get on the coach and make their way to Budmouth Technology College. Here they were treated wonderful musical and dance performances by the pupils and a tour of the Technology Department.

Finally it was time to stop and enjoy a coffee and a large slice of cake at the Victory Hall in Charlestown. This was served by the coffee morning team who meet every Wednesday morning. The visitors all left feeling very impressed by Chickerell and promising to return to explore further.
