CHARITABLE and voluntary organisations are getting a helping hand from Chickerell Town Council.
On Tuesday, August 31 cheques were presented to the organisations who had successfully applied to the town council for grant aid this year:
Ducklings Pre-School - £200 towards a shed and outdoor storage.
Charlestown Victory Hall - £500 towards new double glazed windows not replaced since 1947.
Chickerell Youth & Community Centre - £500 to sustain additional staffing levels that are not covered through core funding.
1st Chickerell Brownies - £250 to purchase a wheeled storage unit for Brownie equipment.
Noah’s Ark Pre-School and Out of School Club - £200 to replace computers for the pre-school and out school children to use.
Youfirst youth forum - £500 to help start a fund to pay for some community seating to be built by the proposed games court on Willowbed Field.
Chickerell Mayor, Councillor Jean Dunseith said: “We’re very lucky to have such a wide range of charities and volunteers working in Chickerell. They make a huge difference to our community through their service and commitment. The town council tries to help support their projects and new ideas through these grants.”
