THE 10.10.10 tea party, organised by YouFirst and Chickerell@Play, was held in the Willowbed Hall and was a great success raising £1,170 for the youth forum, YouFirst, who are raising money for community seating.
This amount included £500 donated from the Turks Head and £300 donated by local resident, Jon Carter, who had completed a marathon to raise the money.
Residents came and enjoyed beautiful cupcakes and a cup of tea whilst taking part in activities which included nail art and face painting.
The Chickerell School Choir gave a fantastic performance, which was enjoyed by all including the Mayor of Chickerell and councillors from the town council.
The town council were there with an information stand showing the final designs for the Willowbed Field project including the drainage designs.
Ray Parker from Monster Play, the playground designer, was also there with DVD footage of the equipment. Ray said: “The community spirit shown here today is amazing and I am very impressed with how quickly the project has moved forward to this point. I am looking forward to the day when all the children of Chickerell can play in their fantastic new play area.”
