A PORTLAND church is aiming to help young people learn new skills.
St Andrew’s Church will host a coffee morning in the church hall with money raised going towards Portland Rocks.
The event It will be held on Thursday, June 4, between 10am to midday.
There will be a vast array of cakes, as well as a raffle.
Portland Rocks is a group that helps young people develop musical skills.
The group regularly meets at the Isle of Portland Aldridge Community Academy’s Royal Manor Campus on Monday evenings, between 4pm to 6pm.
It is open for young people aged between 10 and 18. The cost is £3 per session but the first session is free.
Steve Garden, one of the teachers, said they planned to focus on developing bands, solo and small group performers with an emphasis on teaching writing, recording, performing and promotional skills.
