A church in Dorchester has started a women’s discipleship group to help ‘encourage’ and empower women on their journey with god.

The group is called Seize the Day and is organised in conjunction with Dorchester Family Church (DFC).

The group aims to help women live with purpose and make every day count, and follows a book written by Joyce Meyer called ‘Seize the Day.’

The book is based on the scripture; "Taking hold of that for which Christ has taken hold of us".

A total of 57 women have signed up to join the discipleship group and have split into smaller groups that meet during the week.

Each group will read through the book’s 22 chapters over the next few months, and will come together every other month for a joint meeting.

The group was started by Jane Arscott and Carol Fry.

Ms Arscott said: “In the bible Jesus talks about "making disciples" so the groups are fulfilling that purpose.

“Carol and I are greatly encouraged and excited about this new initiative for our women of DFC. Over the summer last year, we both felt spoken to and directed by God to start these discipleship groups, so we are confident that as we begin in February it will be of great benefit and encouragement to all those involved.”

The group is currently open to church members, if you would like to find out more information about the church you can contact Dorchester Family Church on 01305 265775 or email office@dfc.org.uk
