ALL YOU computer users need to know that there is a tax rebate scam out to get your money, I got an e-mail from the Inland Revenue – it really looked the proper thing, saying to fill in the form to claim my tax refund – but then it asked for my bank details and alarm bells started to ring.

When I spoke to the Tax office they told me they NEVER, EVER send e-mails to you about tax matters – so if you get one, either delete it without opening it or forward it to phishing@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk & they will deal with it.

LAST week we had a near disaster when one of The Elm Tree’s freezers caught fire during the evening, fortunately the Fire Brigade were prompt and efficient so very little damage was done and it was ‘business as usual’ the next day.

I understand the Portesham pub benefitted by getting the custom of the large birthday party due to eat that evening – I hope they were suitably grateful & perhaps telephoned a supportive message to Debbie and Jamie - I’m sure all of Langton’s residents wish them well.

OUR Village Lunch was a great success with Martin & Michael providing splendid food – they just need a couple more men to help clear up afterwards!

THE PRESENTATION by Martin Young at Garden Club was good and helpful,as most of us live on the coast & have to contend with clay soil - the tips & suggestions will be applied and I look forward to visiting Martin’s nursery on Dorchester Road when it re-opens in March!

LANGTON Herring Village Club meeting on Tuesday, 1st November will have a change of speaker due to a misunderstanding – we will now have Colin Dean (who from past occasions we know to be an entertaining speaker) on “It shouldn’t Happen to A Speaker”. Thanks for rescuing me Colin! Do come and join us – Visitors £1.50.
