You’ve probably seen them in the Co-Op or Sainsbury’s, the Walking Littlemoor leaflets have proved so successful that an incredible 100,000 have been printed so far and demands are such that even more will be needed.

Originally thought up by Malcolm Beeson for the Littlemoor Community Action Group as a ‘one off’ map of footpaths around Littlemoor, he ended up doing a series of six which cover walks from Littlemoor to places as far afield as Bincombe, the Ridgeway, Sutton Poynz, Preston, Overcombe, Lorton Valley, Upwey and Wey Valley.

Weymouth and Portland’s mayor, councillor Kate Wheller met Malcolm to congratulate him on his success and said of the leaflets, “they are clear and simple and easy to follow and are a tremendous boost for visitors or those who don’t know their way around the area.”

Malcolm said of the popularity of the maps, “I find it quite staggering that a simple walking map could command a print run of 100,000.”

Copies of the maps can also be picked up at the Pavilion, the Colwell Centre, Dorchester TIC and many other public venues.
